Honestly, I do not typically allow myself to keep oreo’s in the house! I’ve heard that they are vegan and all 😉 but it puts my will power to the test.
Recently, I was craving oreos, but I also had been wanting to bake donuts. A chocolatey cookies and cream donut sounded amazing.
If you too love oreos or cookies and cream sweets, you will love these!

Instructions
Donuts
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Set aside 2 greased donut pans (6 donuts each) *I like to use ghee to grease the pan
- Add butter to a small saucepan and slowly melt. Once melted, set aside to cool.
- In a medium bowl, combine and whisk the wet ingredients, cooled butter, buttermilk, egg and vanilla.
- In a medium bowl, add the dry ingredients (except oreos), flour, cocoa, sugars, baking powder/soda, and salt.
- Once combined, fold in half of the crushed oreos.
- Add the donut batter to a piping bag. If you do not have one, it's ok! Take a gallon zip lock bag and cut off of one of the bottom corners.
- Pipe the batter into the wells, half full to allow for rise. Bake 10-12 minutes (you can use the toothpick trick, and if it comes out clean, the donuts are done).
- Transfer the donuts to a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely before adding icing.
Icing
- With a mixer or electric hand mixer, beat butter, shortening, powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Then add, 1 tbsp. milk at a time until the icing can pour without being too thick.
- Dip the cooled donut bottoms, one at a time and place on a wire rack.
- With the remaining half crushed oreos, sprinkle on top of the freshly iced donuts and let set.
